Utah Bound

Wednesday, May 8, 2024

We started this travel day departing Vegas about 11:00 am for Hurricane, UT. Although we both are glad to have visited Las Vegas, it felt good departing the city and to once again be on open road with natural experiences ahead of us.

Our 150-mile route on I-15 North took us across a corner of Arizona and into southewestern Utah. The scenery along our route was beautiful, especially traveling through the Virgin River Gorge. In Utah, we passed through St. George and then Hurricane to get to our campground. The road at the interstate exit that my phone’s GPS guided us to was closed, so we had to make a twenty minute loop back to an exit we had previously passed. Part of the open road had ongong construction issues that we had to maneuver around. During our trip, we lost an hour of the day due to the time change from PDT to MDT.

We set up in Site 146 at the St. George / Hurricane KOA Journey. Our site has full hook-ups but is a back-in site with a small mountain behind us. Because no campers have been assigned sites in our area, it feels very secluded. During the remainder of the afternoon and evening we watched cable television, caught up on picture editing and blogging, ate dinner, and read until bedtime.
