Driving in Gros Morne National Park |
|
Keep your Eyes on the Road |
Today, we departed Twillingate and reconnected to the TCH west. We travelled continuously for about 4.5 hours eating pre-made tunafish sandwiches and chips as we rolled. We stopped at Deer Lake to refuel and change drivers. Jane drove as we turned off the TCH onto highway 430 and proceeded into Gros Morne National Park. We climbed, then descended a mountain and proceeded along Rocky Harbor. We stopped at the park visitor center for information and to purchase our permits. The Gros Morne / Norris Point KOA was only a quick drive down the road and as we arrived at our designated private site, it was pre-occupied. A large brown hare was chomping on grass and wasn’t phased at all as Jane backed the RV into place. After setup, we rolled out the awning, opened a bottle of wine and relaxed with our new friend. After dinner on the site picnic table, we went for a walk on the Moose Trail around the campground lake. It started showering after we were about 2/3 of the way around the lake so we hurried back to the RV. We sat under the awning streaming music from Woodstock (in honor of its 50th anniversary) through our outdoor speakers until the wi-fi signal dropped. Unfortunately, the rain continued off and on through the evening and tomorrow looks like it’ll be a rainy one.
