Ready!

Thursday, May 5

The last several days have been filled with a myriad of preparatory activities:

  • Driving 3 round- trips to Kenly (1 hr each way) to replace a generator valve and propane regulator in the RV

  • Diagnosing and fixing a problem with the RV hot water heater
  • Finalizing the itinerary and reservations
  • Postponing mail delivery (only possible for 30 days !?)
  • Giving custody of our cat, Zorro, to Little Sis from SC
  • Meeting with Will, who will be looking after the house
  • Requisitioning medicine, groceries, and other provisions
  • Packing clothes, games, food, etc.
  • And on and on and on …

Finally. we feel comfortable that the RV is ready to launch tomorrow morning. Not so sure about us though. We’re exhausted and becoming slightly concerned about news reports of deadly tornados in Kansas & Texas and massive wildfires in New Mexico.

Nevertheless, we decided to celebrate by dining at our usual Mexican restaurant oblivious that today is Cinco de Mayo. The restaurant was packed but after a wait to be seated, we had a great meal.

Well, time to relax and contemplate our launch tomorrow morning.
