While preparing to depart this morning, Jane spotted a snake in the adjacent campsite that attracted the attention of fellow campers. We later identified it as a nonvenemous Pacific gopher snake.

We departed mid-morning and joined our westward companion, I-40. The scenery along our route was nice but high gusty winds buffeted our RV the entire 240-mile long trip making driving (and passengering) tense. We continued on I-40 for over two hours before turning onto US-93 in Kingman for our final leg into Vegas. We stopped at a large truck stop along US-93 to refuel the RV and ourselves. At the Nevada state line, we crossed over Hoover Dam. We couldn’t see the dam from the highway, but viewed a small part of Lake Mead to the right and the Colorado River to the left. Descending the final ridge into the city gave us a panaramic view of the city and its famous strip albeit through hazy air due to dust the winds had stirred up.

We quickly checked-in and set up in Site 325 at the Las Vegas Boulder KOA Journey at Sam’s Town. We waited in our motorhome for about an hour for a Progressive Insurance representative to show up for his appointment to assess the damage from our mishap. He was timely and friendly and will send us an email with his assessment.
Our Vegas Home
We decided that we were too weary from our trip to venture into Vegas tonight. So, Jane picked out a restaurant from the internet and drove us to the Storming Crab. We ordered one of the Storming Combos with beer. Soon, our waitress showed up with a plasctic bag containing our boiled dinner and emptied it onto a large platter: shrimp, crab legs, lobster tails, broccoli, potatoes, corn, and eggs all covered with a brown garlic butter sauce. We donned the plastic bibs provided and dug into the feast. Eating was one messy adventure but the result was a tasty meal. Once we could eat no more, we spent awhile cleaning ourselves and our waitress poured our leftovers into a take-out bag. We departed as satisfied diners with another meal in the bag and shellfish between our teethes.

Back at the campground, we decided to walk off our dinner by walking around and checking out the other rigs, the showers, and the outdoor swiming pool. Upon returning to the motorhome, we quickly turned in for the evening.

Looks like a great trip! Watch out for those snakes! Hope you are both doing well!
