Jane & I had a leisurely morning including doing laundry at the RV park laundry mat. We then headed to Helen’s and spent more time with Nancy, John and Steph. Around noon, we headed to camp to have lunch with the family. Lots of Olivers, Hoovers, Gregorys and other relatives. Nancy & John had to leave early to get back to Ephrata because of work tomorrow. (It’s great being retired and not concerned about such pesky details.) After departing camp we went back to Helen’s apartment before saying our goodbyes and heading back to the RV park.
The Sky Walk |
On the spur of the moment while driving back to High Pines, Jane & I decided to go on a bike ride. We headed to Mt. Jewett, to ride the Knox & Kane Rail Trail to Kinzua State Park and back (about 7.5 miles). The heart of the park is the Kinzua Bridge, a 301 ft. tall trestle bridge spanning about 2050 ft. In 2003, an F1 tornado tore through the valley and caused most of the bridge to collapse. (Jane had taken me there several times before the collapse.) Today there is a nice visitor’s center and a Sky Walk to an observatory with a glass floor at the end of the remaining bridge. We enjoyed the sites then rode back to the car and returned to the RV for dinner and to make preparations to depart tomorrow. We also walked around the park observing the RVs (mostly seasonal rigs) and had a nice chat with our neighbors who had traveled from Michigan to ride motorcycles on some of the forest roads in the area.
