Buffalo and Back

Tuesday, August 30, 2022

Today we went to Buffalo to visit Jane’s and Nancy’s Aunt Phyllis.
Jane drove us from our campground to the Riesling Cabin arriving around 10 am. We loaded into Nancy’s car and John drove the two-hour trip to Buffalo stopping at a Mennonite grocery store to buy a peach pie (with PA not NY peaches) along the way. In Buffalo, we lunched at Natalie’s Mediterranean Eatery before arriving at Cathy’s and Pat’s charming home in the suburbs. Cathy and her mother, Aunt Phyllis, greeted us at the door and we were soon seated at the dining table eating a light follow-up lunch succeeded by a large plate of delicious dessert sweets from a local bakery.
While in Buffalo, John had a personal mission of visiting the Slavic Bazzar to purchase some Russian pelmeni (meat dumplings). Cathy had never been to the bazaar so she accompanied John on his mission. After they departed, Aunt Phyllis also briefly drove to her nearby home and returned with various Slovakian items that had belonged to her husband, Steve, who could speak and read Slovakian. We all perused the materials and Jane selected some items to take home. Soon John & Cathy returned with several types of pelmeni; mission accomplished. As we continued socializing, Pat emerged from the basement, where he had been working on a project for a customer, to greet us and have a bite to eat.
Soon, we were saying our goodbyes and loading back into the car. John drove us back to the cabin then Jane and I drove back to our motorhome and played games while snacking before heading to bed.
