Our boots had disappeared from the hallway when we set out for breakfast. The rocking of the boat became ever more apparent as we progressed across Drake Passage so that we swerved walking down the hallways. We mainly blogged and napped throughout the day. Jane attended a session on micro-plastics in the Science Lab. Later in the afternoon, there was a Viking farewell reception in the Aula. We had forgotten about it but tuned in on our room television to see most of it. They showed a video montage of our journey produced by the ship photographer/videographer. It was a great summary of all the wonderful sights and adventures we’ve had. We were provided a web link to download a personal copy from home. The captain also called the ship’s staff to the stage for well-deserved recognition of the excellent jobs that they had done to make our trip so wonderful.

We decided to skip lunch in order to have a nice appetite for our 6:30 pm dinner reservation in The Restaurant on the first floor. Just prior to dinner, we visited The Hide, a small room in the bow of the boat with side windows. As Polaris came crashing down from wave crests, it created large splashes that momentarily sprayed across these window. Our special dinner at The Restaurant was nice. I had a spicy fish chowder appetizer, a grilled sea bass entree, and Swiss choux for desert with wine, of course. After our meal, Jane went to our stateroom while I attended a lecture in the Aula on the life of humpback whales but feel asleep during part of it. Later, from our stateroom tv, Jane and I watched another lecture on the native people of Tierra del Fuego. I was fast asleep about halfway through the presentation and in fact, slept the night through in my clothes.
