A Relaxing Sunday

Sunday, May 29, 2022

We had a leisurely Sunday morning including a late breakfast, reading, laundry and a few rounds of the board game Sequence. Rain started mid-morning and continued on and off throughout the day, the first serious rain we’ve seen since leaving North Carolina.

We left the campground a little after 1:00 pm driving about an hour south toward Denver to visit the Clancys in Northglenn. Steph greeted us at the door with their four dogs. After making the  acquaintance of each dog and grandson Dale, we maneuvered through the dogs to find seats in the living room and chatted for awhile with Stephanie and John.

We then headed out to a nearby Italian restaurant, Cinzzetti’s, where John & Stephanie treated us to dinner. We had planned on walking (less than a mile) but the intermittent rain had started back up, so Steph drove us in their SUV. Cinzzetti’s has an all-you-can eat buffet with lots of great choices. Jane & I both went back for seconds on entrees plus large dessert plates. The food was great and, of course, we left stuffed. The rain had abated when we stepped outside, so John drove the SUV back home and the three of us walked back, first detouring to walk above nearby I-25 on a pedestrian bridge.

Back at the Clancy’s, Jane and I followed Steph downstairs to watch her feed their four pet Bearded Dragons. Each quickly lunged and devoured the small live crickets and carrot pieces Steph provided them. Back upstairs the four of us talked some more before Jane & I departed in time to get back to the campground before dark.

The rain was once again letting up and as we drove along the final leg of our trip, rays from the subsiding sun created inspiring patterns through the rain clouds. Back at the campground, the formerly dusty roads were wet with puddles. A live band was playing music from the ’80s under a shed and had the campground’s youth on their feet dancing. The music stopped relatively early and Jane and I enjoyed a quiet evening in our motorhome before retiring.
