After the usual pre-departure scramble, we loaded Zorro into his cat carrier, hitched up the car to our motorhome, and around 11:00 am, headed west. The trip went smoothly and we only stopped once at a rest stop for lunch in in our motorhome parked among truckers and fellow RVers. Most of today’s 250-mile trek was on I-40, a highway that we’ll continue on for another 2,000 miles.
After arriving at the Asheville West KOA Holiday, we checked in, found our site (B14), leveled, hooked up, uncaged Zorro, and relaxed a bit. Shortly afterwards, around 4:30 pm, my siblings, Lisa and Robert arrived from Greenville, SC, to pick up Zorro in order to take care of him during our excursion.
After chatting in the motorhome for awhile Lisa drove us about five miles to downtown Canton where we ate dinner at the Southern Porch Kitchen & Drink. The restaurant was located in a building with distinctive architecture that had originally served as a home and also as The Imperial Hotel.

After dinner, we returned to the RV where Zorro eagerly awaited us. We socialized awhile longer but soon it was time for Lisa and Robert to depart. We loaded all the cat gear into Lisa’s car then Jane and I sadly said our goodbyes.

After the group departed, Jane and I walked around the campground checking out the rigs of our fellow campers, the bathhouse, and other campground facilities. It was sad returning to the motorhome without Zorro’s welcome but we settled into a quiet evening of blogging and reading and preparing for another day of westward progress tomorrow.
