Today was a traveling day with Jane at the helm. Except for exits for diesel fuel, lunch, and the campground, we progressed along the Trans Canadian Highway (TCH). When I am the driver, Jane can freely go to the rear bathroom, hence, we discovered the disadvantage of her driving was the more frequent stops. When we stopped for diesel, she bolted to the back of the RV while I did the pumping. For lunch we stopped at Deer Lake Motel Restaurant, not the best of choices, but at least we filled our bellies. Deer Lake appeared to be an RV mecca judging by the number of rigs we observed from the restaurant window. Around mid-afternoon, after driving through some beautiful scenery along the coast and along the shores of inland lakes, we arrived at the Blue Canoe Family RV Park right off the TCH near Springdale. Post set-up, we walked around the campground including a short hiking trail and a walk to a rocky beach on the Indian River. This campground is less than a year old and the facilities look spanking new, but it’s obvious that the sites have recently been carved out of a dense spruce/fir/birch forest. However, it does have nice playground facilities for children. We then went to the office building to catch up on laundry and blogging. Afterwards, we had an excellent dinner of lasagne that Jane had packed with French red wine while we reviewed the options for tomorrow’s drive toward St. John’s.
