Throughout last night, yesterday’s overcast skies finally delivered rain. After breakfast, we disconnectd in a muddy drizzle then drove to a nearby station for diesel and to hitch-up the toad. Next, we recommenced our westward trek along I-40 for another 350 miles. After we stopped for lunch in the RV at a rest area, Jane took the wheel for the final two hours of driving. Following a brief heart-stopping getting-the-hang-of-it-session, Jane aptly drove us through busy Nashville, a diesel-up stop, and parked us into Site 40 at the Buffalo / I-40 Exit 143 KOA Journey. We were grateful that we had a long pull-through site (no need to unhitch the car) with a concrete pad (no need to level the RV).
We learned that our campground was near Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills, TN. There, it’s possible to tour the iconic country musician’s house, museums, and a replica of her Butcher Holler (KY) home. Plus, there is a large and very nice RV campground. Unfortantely, our timing didn’t allow us the opportunity to visit these facilities but we hope to next time we pass through this area.
After settling into our site, we walked around the campground, then ate a delicious eggplant parmesan with salad in the motorhome while catching up on the weather and news. We will be early to bed tonight hoping to get an early start tomorrow.
